The PE Waterfront site is a collaborative marketing effort representing product owners within the proposed Port of Port Elizabeth Waterfront who believe in and are actively contributing to the mantra that the waterfront’s “Time has Come”.
For far too many years the public of Nelson Mandela Bay have been demanding that the Transnet National Ports Authority (TNPA) remove the Manganese Ore dump and Fuel Tank Farm in order to make way for a waterfront development.
The brutal truth is that once the ore dump and tank farm have been moved the Port of Port Elizabeth will need to replace that lost revenue in order to stay viable and open. As each Port presently operates as a stand alone business unit the reality is that without massive amounts of capital or cross subsidisation from the Port that the manganese ore and fuel tanks move to, in support of the change to a waterfront, many locals may lose their jobs along with the very businesses represented here.
By promoting the businesses already operating within the Port we believe that our small contribution will be the catalyst that supports the TNPA’s philosophy of ‘moving forward in a small but big way’.
